Sr. Kate is a religious sister of sisters of St. Joseph, SSJ. She works with the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya as the Human Resource Officer as well as BPE Coordinator for Kenya. She currently coordinates the 16 schools within 7 counties, selected in the Kenya BPE program.
Her overall objectives to BPE project
To campaign for the voiceless girls in the society through training to protect the girls from harm.
To ensure readmission to schools, especially the most vulnerable girls and boys
To work closely with the school principals and other teachers to ensure they keep a safe environment and a child friendly environment within the schools.
We train teachers to keep a watchful eye on the vulnerable girls and family.
We teach the girls and society to Understand that abuse, neglect and exploitation can happen to anyone.
We encourage the community and the girls to Speak up if they have concerns and to Trust their instincts!
As BPE Coordinator, Sr. Kate assists in helping limit the vulnerable adult’s isolation. Discuss options with the person and encourage them to stay in contact with others. She encourages the society and the girl child to report any suspicions of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, exploitation, or abandonment. Sr. Kate advocates and campaigns for children rights through research and the vulnerable to know their rights.
